Summer is just around the corner, and after a very wet winter, we have had a beautiful green spring here in the Ukiah area. We are having some unusually hot days, with temperatures up into the high 90’s. It’s a wonderful time of year with cool nights, and warm evenings when you can dine outside, or enjoy outside activities. Lake Mendocino has the most water it has had in many years. Some of the campgrounds are open, and the week end finds many folks water skiing, wake boarding, kayaking and sailing on the lake.
We continue to have a housing shortage here in the greater Ukiah area, and that seems to be driving prices up. Listings that are well priced and under $400,000 are selling very quickly, sometimes with multiple offers and over bids. Even the higher priced properties are moving well. If you are a buyer, you will need to move quickly when you find a house that fits your needs, and if you are considering selling this is a great time to sell real estate. Rentals are particularly scarce, and the demand is driving rents up quickly. Unfortunately there are no new housing developments that will be built anytime soon. This poses a problem for families wanting to move to our area, for business who would like to locate here, or local business who would like to expand.
Summer is a wonderful time in Ukiah, hot days, warm balmy evenings, and cool nights when you can open the house and sleep comfortably. Give me a call if there is anything I can do to help with your real estate needs, and in the meantime enjoy the summertime.
